Methodist Hospital | Northeast opens new unit Methodist Hospital | Northeast has opened a new state-of-the-art Orthopedic and Neurosciences Unit. It is home to the hospital’s highly regarded Joint Replacement Academy as well as to the hospital’s new Brain and Spine Center. “Our new unit reflects the hospital’s commitment to growing alongside the Texas Tri-County community and providing healthcare services close to home,” said Michael Beaver, CEO of Methodist Hospital | Northeast. The team of neurosurgeons, orthopedic surgeons, nurses and caregivers collaborates to provide specialized and comprehensive orthopedic, neurological and spine services delivered with the exceptional and compassionate care our community deserves. The unit consists of 30 all-private rooms. Four are ADA-accessible. The unit has a multipurpose room in the center, where patients receive physical therapy and educa- tion as well as a daily meal with their coach or care team. The orthopedic and neurosciences unit is the next completed phase of the overall master facility expansion plan. Methodist Hospital | South recently reached an important milestone when it was designated a Level IV Trauma Facility, and state Sen. Pete Flores helped the hospital celebrate. Sen. Flores presented a Senate Proclamation to hospital officials in honor of the designa- tion. The new designation means the hospital has the capability to stabilize all major and severe trauma patients 24 hours a day, seven days a week. “This trauma designation represents our prom- ise to protect the health of the community,” said Greg Seiler, CEO of Methodist Hospital | South. “We thank Sen. Flores for coming to our hospital to bestow this special honor.” Flores represents the 19th Senate District of Texas, which includes several South Texas counties, including Atascosa, Bexar, Edwards and Medina.
