While the rest of the country is seeing an 8% decline in births, Methodist Healthcare is seeing an approximate 8% increase year-over-year. “We’ve worked really hard to increase our clinical capabilities across all of our hospi- tals within our system,” Court LeMaistre, CEO of Methodist Children’s Hospital and Women’s Services at Methodist Hospital, said. “I think doctors and mothers are recognizing that and are choosing to come to us.” LeMaistre says Methodist Hospital is on track to deliver an average of 600 babies each month in 2021, setting a hospital record and affirming the hospital’s dedi- cation to provide exceptional care and a fabulous birthing experience for families within the San Antonio community. This year, Methodist Hospital received the Level IV Maternal Designation from the state of Texas, which is the highest level of care available for high-risk maternal patients. Methodist Hospital | Metropolitan received the state’s Level III maternal designation Acelebration of Pride Methodist Hospital | Metropolitan goes all out during Pride Month each June to celebrate and support the San Antonio LGBTQ+ community, including their staff and patients. In the last year, a handful of OB/GYN practices have moved all of their deliver- ies to Methodist Healthcare facilities.
