San Anto- nio Sports has teamed up with Methodist Healthcare to recognize middle and high school athletic teams that go Beyond the Game. The program is looking for teams that have made a difference in their district or community and exhibit the key values of respect, selfless service, integrity, caring and sportsmanship. “In its first year, Be- yond the Game was able to shine a light on tre- mendous young athletes who as teams performed generous acts of service for our community,” said Russ Bookbinder, President and CEO of San Antonio Sports. “We look forward to highlighting even more teams this year, which will surely inspire more young people to seek opportuni- ties to serve on and off the field of play.” Beyond the Game, with its grassroots outreach to young athletes and their families, is a good match for Methodist Healthcare. “It aligns with the Methodist Healthcare mis- sion of Serving Humanity to Honor God and our values of integrity, compas- sion, accountability, respect and excellence,” said Jaime Wesolowski, President and CEO of Methodist Health- care. “It also follows the servant leadership ap- proach, which is an impor- tant part of the Methodist Healthcare philosophy.” Teams will be recog- nized by San Antonio MHS TEAMS UP WITH SAN ANTONIO SPORTS TO RECOGNIZE YOUNG ATHLETES WHO GO BEYOND THE GAME Sports and Methodist Healthcare, and many will be fea- tured on The CW 35’s Thursday Night Lights broadcast. Nominees will also be recognized at their school and four outstanding teams will be recognized during the San Antonio Sports All-Star Football Game on Jan. 5, 2019, in the Alamodome in front of fans, as well as on television and radio broadcasts.
