Spurs Legend David Robinson Opens the Hospital In 1998, San Antonio Spurs legend David Robinson cut the ribbon opening the doors of Methodist Children’s Hospital. As the first and only hospital in San Antonio and South Texas designed and built just for children, Methodist Children’s Hospital has set the standard for treating the children in the region. Methodist Children’s Hospital Brings Tracy’s Kids Art Therapy to Texas Through theTracy’sKidsArtTherapyprogram,Methodist Children’s Hospital offers the only pediatric oncology art therapy program in San Antonio. The program uses art therapy to help young cancer patients and their families cope with the emotional stress and trauma of cancer and its treatment. Art therapy allows kids to be kids and gives them something to look forward to when they come in for treatment. It helps them express their feelings and encourages them to interact with other pediatric patients. In 2018, Second LadyKarenPence, an ardent supporter of Tracy’s Kids, visited Methodist Children’s Hospital to donate a piece of her own artwork. She interactedwith the patients and took home a fewpatient originals of her own. AMAZING MOMENTS For more amazing moments, see page 8.
